Welcome, Baby Sailor – A Newborn Session in Sarasota
Sweet baby Sailor surprised me in the most beautiful way. At just 10 days new, she was wide-eyed and alert for a long time. And honestly? I loved every second of it.
As a Sarasota newborn photographer, I have learned to follow each baby’s rhythm. Whether they are peacefully asleep or taking in the world with bright eyes, there is beauty in every stage. Sailor reminded me that awake newborns have their own magic – tiny hands reaching, soft blinks, and soulful stares that feel like little windows into their unfolding personality.

Photographing an awake newborn requires patience, presence, and flexibility. I never rush these sessions. I wait, I breathe, I observe. I let the baby lead.
A Newborn Session Full of Wonder
Eventually, she became quite sleepy…

Sleepy enough to capture what I affectionately call the newborn hammock pose (but rest assured, safety is always my number one priority when working with precious newborns, and hands were on baby Sailor at all times). This photograph is a composite image where I combined two different images together to make it appear as if baby Sailor is in the hammock sleeping solo, and the result is this beautiful portrait of this sweet baby girl!
Sailor slept the rest of her session away…

This is another composite image, combining two different images together to make it appear as if Sailor is resting in this “froggy” pose, which is a favorite among some families.

Each moment felt like a quiet poem written in light…

Such a sleepy little lamb! This is one of many newborn bonnets that I hand knitted myself. I love to create the hats and headbands that I use for the precious newborns and babies I photograph. Knitting is my second passion, next to photography, of course.

Welcome to the World, Sailor!
Congratulations on your precious baby girl, mom and dad!

I am always honored to photograph a brand new person and all of their sweet little details, as we all know that newborns grow so quickly! Welcome to the world, Sailor!
What to Expect from a Sarasota Newborn Photography Session
Every baby is different, and every session is baby-led. I create a slow, nurturing space that follows your baby’s needs. I use soft light (natural if possible), neutral tones, and minimal props to keep the focus on your baby and your connection.
I am here to help you tell the story of your baby’s beginning with honesty and heart.
If your baby stays awake, we’ll capture it. If they snooze, we’ll soak in the stillness. If they need a break, we pause. No rush. No pressure. Just love and light.
Ready to Book Your Newborn Session?
I have been telling stories through photographs since 2009, and I would be honored to document this sacred season of your life.
If you love posed, sleepy newborn portraits, it is best to plan your newborn session for when your little one is 5-10 days new, and ideally book your session while you are still expecting, as my availability fills up quickly and I cannot guarantee that I can fulfill a last minute newborn session request (though I will try!) However, whether your baby is days or weeks old, it’s never too late to capture something beautiful.
With warmth and gratitude,
Lindsay
