I am a photographer, a storyteller, and a lifelong noticer of the quiet, beautiful things.
When I was five, a childhood bicycle accident left me completely blind in my left eye. What could have dimmed my view of the world instead deepened it. I learned early how to see - not just with my eyes, but with presence, instinct, and emotion.

Photography became my language. Before I ever held a digital camera, I fell in love with the smell of developer and the magic of light dancing on film. In college, I spent countless hours in the darkroom, experimenting with texture, tone, and surreal combination - chasing stories that couldn’t be told in just one frame.

This image is one of my earliest creations, a double exposure crafted by hand from two separate negatives: a carnival glowing in the night and a pair of wide, watchful cat eyes. It’s strange and imperfect - and yet, it holds the heartbeat of everything I’ve always loved about photography: emotion, mystery, and the unseen threads that tie it all together. I didn’t just want to take pictures. I wanted to create them.
While I’ve always been drawn to photography - and especially to the sacredness of new life - it wasn’t until my daughter was born in 2008 that everything truly clicked.

It all began with her.
These photos of my daughter were never meant to start a business. They were just for me - ways to freeze the sweetness of her curls, the curve of her footprint, the quiet stories of her childhood. But the deeper I fell in love with preserving these details, the more I realized this wasn’t just a personal passion - it was a calling.
Purely Precious Portraiture was born from the alchemy of motherhood and artistry, rooted in love and storytelling.
Over the next decade, I photographed Sarasota area newborns and families with heart and intention.

I even merged my love for fiber arts into my work. I didn’t just want to photograph babies - I wanted to wrap them in comfort and magic, using props I had made myself. These images are a glimpse into the very beginning of that journey, where every stitch was an act of love, and every photo a piece of my heart.

Like many mothers, my path hasn’t been linear. A few years ago, life asked me to slow down. The weight I was carrying became too heavy to hold. I didn’t step away from my photography business because I stopped loving it - I stepped away because I needed to turn inward, to protect the sacred space of my family, and to be fully present for my children as we navigated a season of deep change.
I was learning how to hold myself while holding them.

But even in that quiet, difficult season, I didn’t put my camera down entirely.
Instead, it became a vessel for something new.
I began turning the lens inward, creating self-portraits that were raw, expressive, and deeply personal. It gave me a way to say what I couldn’t speak, to explore identity, grief, resilience, and the slow unfolding of becoming. That work changed me. It healed me in ways I didn’t expect. My camera shifted - from documenting others’ love to helping me witness my own.

I was also drawn to documenting the everyday moments of my children in honest, magical ways. Not posed or polished - just real life. Light pouring through windows, tangled hair, bare feet on the floor, a fleeting glance that told a whole story.

It was during this season of transformation that I submitted my portfolio and was accepted into Click Pro Photographers - a recognition that affirmed not only my technical skill, but the emotional honesty and artistry within my work. I captured this confetti-filled self portrait in the quiet joy that followed my acceptance into Click Pro Photographers.

Later, I was honored again when a black and white portrait I captured of my daughter at the beach was included among the best black and white photographers in the Click Pro community - an acknowledgment that means the world to someone who sees stories in shadows and light.

And in the process, I grew - creatively, emotionally, artistically.

These deeply personal forms of photography became my lifeline. They helped me rediscover who I was - not just as a mother or artist, but as a whole person. And they shaped the way I now see light, connection, and emotion in everything I photograph.
While most of my client work is focused on newborns, families, and maternity, I also find deep joy in documenting the quiet beauty of everyday life with my own children and expressing myself through the art of self portraiture..
These personal images reflect the same values I bring to my sessions - connection, presence, and honest storytelling.
